I came across this graphic the other day on social media and want to share it with you. It comes from an organization called LEAD (linking efforts against drugs) and it’s a good reminder of things we can say to our children, students, and those we love.
Here’s a clickable link in case the image doesn’t show below:
66 positive things to say to your child
As always, thanks for being you and continuing to make the world a better place.

I want to share a quick story with you that may make your day.
Last Thursday morning while driving to the pool for a swim, I was stopped at a traffic light, look over to the sidewalk and see a dad waiting for the bus with his daughter. She looked to be about 8 or 9 years old and had the biggest smile on her face as they were standing a few feet apart, lofting a football back and forth.
Seeing this girl throw football with her dad on a Thursday morning at 7am when it’s 25 degrees as they wait for the bus….it just reminds me no matter where we are, we always have the choice to be present in the moment and cherish the people we love.
Thanks for being you 🙂
Have you ever come across a book that resonates with you and changes your perspective on life?
You read it once, twice, three times and recommend it to everyone who asks, “read any good books lately?”
The Go-Giver is one of those books for me.
And if we are any bit alike, then we both know January is a perfect time to start thinking of books we want to read this year.
Well, here is one to put on your list. In December, the authors of The Go-Giver released a new publication, A Teacher’s Guide to The Go-Giver: A Curriculum for Making a Difference.
Schools all over the world are putting this guide into practice and it’s doing wonders.
I’d love to know your favorite books so I can add some to my list. Shoot me an email at mike@mikemarsteller.com to let me know your top book recommendation!
jQuery.post( "http://www.mikemarsteller.com/", { 'fca_eoi_track_form_id': 275 } );My friend and mentor, Josh Shipp, recently did a TED talk and it’s remarkable. Every adult needs to listen to this one. But first, if you haven’t heard of Josh, let me introduce you to him.
He’s the author of “The Teen’s Guide to World Domination” and had a TV series on A&E called TEEN TROUBLE. He’s spoken to over 2 million teens live and was recently listed on Inc. Magazine’s 30 under 30 list.
Josh is making waves of impact on young people and those they look up to.
He grew up in the foster system and based on statistics should be dead, in jail, or homeless. His TED talk explains what saved him and how you can have the same impact on a teen you know.

Many studies suggest one of the key determinants of lasting happiness is gratitude.
As we round out 2015 and enter 2016, it’s easy to think about what we are grateful because around the holidays we are surrounded by those we care about and love.
But all too often, it’s the only time of year we are reminded to be thankful for what we have.
So how can we hold on to that warm fuzzy happy feeling we feel around the holidays?
How to keep a gratitude journal:
1. Get a small notebook and keep it by your bedside.
2. Each morning write down three things you are grateful for.
3. Each night write down one thing you are proud to have accomplished that day, and one thing you are looking forward to the next day.
4. Repeat this routine day to day
It only takes a few minutes and will be sure to change your life.
On that note, “Happy” New Year 🙂
